- Identify and select parts required for repair, supporting accurate inventory tracking protocols.
- Applies knowledge of vehicles manufacturer's repair process, read and understand OEM instructions, repair orders and estimates.
- Review each repair order, work order, and estimator's notes and work through competing priorities to complete customer orders.
- Perform variety of repairs to include removing damaged parts, panels, grills, upholstery, electrical, trim, and reassembly of parts after painting is complete.
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
- Maintain clean work area, appearance, and safety standards
- Work with team members to achieve target delivery dates and communicate challenges or delays.
- Notify the Manager or Estimator of any repair add-ons to supplement work order
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace
- SMC, laser measurement, welding and frame repair as assigned
- Road test vehicles as assigned
- Complete a parts and tool review for accuracy prior to beginning repairs
- Repairing and restoring damaged vehicles or trailers, thoroughly inspecting the vehicle, planning the repair process, and final inspection. Uses various tools such as cutting tools, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, rotary tools, hammers, and hand tools to repair sections of the vehicle.
- Coordinating repair functions or questions with other departments of the dealership
- Estimating approximate time for repairing the vehicle and staying on schedule.
- Files, sands, grinds, and repairs surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
- Upholding the quality and customer service standards of TEC.
- Working in regulation of automobile and employee safety standards. Following TEC’s safe workplace expectations and reporting possible hazards.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in frame/body repairs overhaul, adjust, replace and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment
- Certification in body repair preferred
- 2 years’ experience in sheet metal, fiberglass, bonding, welding, fabricating, and repairs/replacement
- 2 years’ experience with Mechanical, suspension, glass, interior, and electrical diagnostic repairs including ABS stability
- Effective written and verbal communication in English
- Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks.
- Sound understanding of general automotive functionalities, measurement tools and standards of repair
- Ability to effectively coordinate work with fellow employees and other departments of the establishment.
- Ability to read job orders and work with little supervision
- Ability to visually inspect vehicle knowledge in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear a paint/dust respirator
