Job Category: Housekeeping and LaundryDegree Level: Some High SchoolJob Description:Starting pay: $20.00 USDJOB SUMMARYUnder direction of the Housekeeping Managers, assist with the supervision, direction and training of the Guest Room Attendants and Housepersons in your section, acting in the best interest of the Executive Housekeeper and the property.ESSENTIAL DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include, but is not limited to the following)
  • Sign in and receive work assignments and room attendants' keys for the day
  • Deliver daily assignments and keys to room attendants at the beginning of the shift
  • Assist with the training, organization, and direction of all guest room attendants and housepersons including completion of work assignments on time
  • Respond to calls and staff requests in a timely manner
  • Handle guest complaints promptly
  • Continuously inspect rooms for cleanliness, making sure standards are met and correcting deficiencies prior to the room being occupied
  • Inspect public areas in the hotel tower to ensure cleanliness and safety
  • Clean biohazard material in accordance with OSHA guidelines
  • Continuously check linen and supply rooms, maid carts and all equipment used by guest room attendants, housepersons, and shampoo persons and ensure proper use of all equipment
  • Maintain linen consumption, housekeeping supplies, care of furniture, and appearance of the building and fixtures
  • Inspect all VIP rooms, making sure standards are met and extra amenities are in place
  • Assist guest room attendants on rush rooms
  • Work a shift as guest room attendant when needed
  • Assist in recordkeeping, lost and found, and administration of maintenance work orders
  • Attend all department meetings
  • Collect keys at the end of the shift
  • Report suspicious activities which may jeopardize the security of the hotel to your manager or the security department immediately

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to understand and follow the Trailblazer Guide, housekeeping manual and emergency/evacuation procedures
  • Must be able to follow instructions, influence others, meet time requirements, memorization skills problem solve, use independent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and guests
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English and Spanish
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and high energy level
  • Knowledge of chemical use, OSHA regulations, and biohazard clean-up procedures
  • High School diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (May be required in order to perform the essential functions of the position)
  • Work may be performed in confined areas, which may be unusually warm, cold, or noisy, dimly lit or brightly illuminated
  • Work entails use of solvents/oils, electrical devices, and computer equipment
  • May encounter fumes/odors and dirt/dust
  • Work is done in high places and occasionally on slippery surfaces
  • Constant awareness is required of surrounding areas to ensure safety of employees and guests
  • Constant contact with co-workers and guests
  • Position requires Team Member to enter & exit from the Team Member entrance which entails 4 flights of stairs (40 steps)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending over; repetitive use of both hands to include light and firm/strong grasping and finger dexterity, near/far visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation and ability to see colors
  • Occasional reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing and balancing
  • Seldom requires sitting, pushing/pulling over 100 lbs., lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
