The Field Engineer (FE) works directly with the Superintendent and plays a critical role in supporting front-line field management. This position requires sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and a proactive attitude, as the FE is responsible for much of the project layout, supervision of trade workers and subcontractor employees, lift drawings, safety, and quality control responsibilities. While most time will be spent in the field, some responsibilities will require work in the field office. This role is considered safety sensitive.Location & RelocationThis role is based in Los Alamos, NM, and requires relocation to the Santa Fe, NM area. Candidates should be open to relocating to ensure accessibility to the project site and the surrounding region. Relocation assistance may be discussed during the hiring process.Essential Duties
  • Perform project layout (surveying) in accordance with design and contract documents
  • Inspect concrete forms for accuracy, adequacy, and embedded items prior to placement
  • Conduct production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and prepare reports for weekly and monthly scheduling and cost control
  • Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the superintendent
  • Direct small workforces or trade crews to gain supervisory experience
  • Coordinate material deliveries by verifying requirements in advance, checking delivery status, and inspecting materials for quality, quantity, and condition
  • Report and document missing or damaged items
  • Support foremen and trade partners with plan and specification interpretation
  • Oversee trade partners and assist in directing labor crews to gain supervisory experience
  • Participate in jobsite safety meetings, audits, and inspections
  • Collaborate with the VDC team to support field operations, review execution plans, and utilize 3D modeling and scheduling software
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
  • 1 year of experience and/or a combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel-based templates), Project Sight, Primavera,
  • and AutoDesk Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior construction industry internships (preferred but not required)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $76,200 $81,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
