Manager Automation EngineeringRole Purpose:To support our existing warehouse sites that have automated material handling equipment. Our centralized automation team provides support to our operations teams to resolve issues or make changes to automated equipment that is already in production. Typical equipment includes: conveyor, carton / tote sortation, unit picking, unit sortation, case shuttle storage systems. Typical responsibilities include: contacting the site operations team, identifying issues and documenting these issues, leading the resolution effort on an issue reported with an automation system, getting quotes from the vendor to upgrade or replace existing automation equipment, recommending and implementing maintenance tracking systems (CMMS).Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Troubleshoots problems with existing automated equipment for functionality, rate, or uptime- Supports and educates the operations team on how to use automation equipment- Reviews automation maintenance reports from contracted maintenance teams on a quarterly basis- Pulls data or logs from warehouse control systems for problem resolution- Performs data analysis of equipment rates and errors- Supports the testing of newly installed automation equipment- Monitors customer service / maintenance support tickets with each vendor / site- Escalates old service tickets to appropriate vendor representatives- Identifies and supports non-vendor maintenance parts and labor tracking systems (CMMS)- Tracks vendor maintenance contracts by site and facilitates timely renewals- Tracks and monitors projects at automation sites with vendorsKey Skills:- Prior experience implementing automated unit / case handling equipment- PLC equipment control- CAD for equipment layout- Use of Computerize Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)- Excellent verbal and written communication- Project management- Warehouse control systems (WCS)- Data analysis using excel, access, SQL, power BI- Great organizational skills- Prior distribution operational experience beneficialRequired Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, with particular emphasis on Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Facilities, and/or Maintenance Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of experience in distribution or manufacturing engineering
  • 1-2 years of project management experience for automated material handling equipment or building implementation required
