- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles with proper documentation in accordance with DOT guidelines.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Monitor vehicle gauges during operation and maintain accurate mileage logs.
- Always follow all company policies and safety procedures.
- Adhere to applicable laws and dispatch instructions.
- Ensure product quality through proper handling procedures.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; escalate major issues to supervisors.
- Keep vehicles clean and organized.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must obtain a CDL B Permit from the local DMV.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to obtain a valid CDL permit.
- Successful completion of DOT physical, drug screening, and criminal background check.
- Possession of a valid DOT medical card.
- Strict adherence to safety standards and company policies.
- Team player willing to assist co-workers and supervisors as needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy to colleagues and the public.
- Maintain a current driver’s license meeting state and company requirements (CDL, Class B).
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet company and DOT standards.
- Ability to work up to six days per week, including significant overtime (55-70 hours/week), per DOT ready mix exemption laws.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home as required.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and varying schedules.
- Commitment to training employees with a CDL Class B license, even if they lack driving experience.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA/MSHA, including face shield, safety shoes, and safety vest.
- Compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations.
- The ability to learn and demonstrate operational skills with mixer trucks and related equipment.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills for records and project documents.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently in diverse conditions.
- Comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Work well independently and as part of a team, maintaining attention to detail.
- Operate heavy, complex equipment with skill and independent judgment.
- Familiarity with securing heavy equipment and oversized loads.
- Professional interaction with customers, including payment collection and issue resolution.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods; sit for short periods.
- Frequent use of hands and arms, including reaching, gripping, and handling.
- Frequent climbing of steps (8”-24”), balancing; occasional kneeling, stooping, crouching, or squatting for equipment inspection.
- Occasional pushing and pulling with hand tools.
- Ability to wear hearing protection in high sound areas.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist occasionally; frequently lift to 30 lbs. with hand tools.
- Work in elevated or confined spaces, repeatedly climb ramps/stairs, occasionally climb vertical ladders.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extended sun exposure.
- Wear a respirator in areas with fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
