- Prepares patients for cardiovascular procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are set up and readily available in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Performs diagnostic and interventional procedures, such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), stress tests, and catheterizations, following established guidelines.
- Monitors and assesses patient status during procedures, providing clear communication to physicians and promptly addressing any changes in patient condition.
- Administers medications as ordered, using patient safety techniques and adhering to medication administration protocols.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation of procedures, patient responses, and any adverse events, maintaining compliance with hospital standards.
- Assists physicians during catheterization procedures, monitoring heart rates and alerting to any abnormal readings.
- Maintains cardiology equipment by performing routine cleaning, troubleshooting issues, and reporting malfunctions to supervisors.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives, contributing to quality assurance activities and the development of best practices in the Cath Lab.
- Adheres to infection control and safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Associate Degree in a cardiovascular technology program or related field from an accredited institution required
- 1-2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or cardiovascular diagnostic setting required
- Proficiency in cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, equipment use, and patient monitoring.
- Proficient understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and related medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient interaction.
- Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to emergencies.
- CVT - Cardiovascular Tech required or
- CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist required or
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support within the first 30 days of employment required
- ACLS preferred
- ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred
