Description of WorkWe are looking for candidates who have a passion for helping at-risk youth.We are Working Together to Strengthen North Carolina's Youth and Families!This position is located at Cabarrus Youth Development Center, a secure facility in Concord, NC (Cabarrus County), with an overall mission to provide committed juveniles with a safe, secure environment that fosters healthy decision-making and personal responsibility.The primary purpose of this position is to serves as a core member of interdisciplinary treatment team. As a clinical practitioner the social worker independently exercises clinical judgment and uses theory to formulate a psychosocial assessment, treatment modality and discharge plan. Treatment interventions include individual, and family therapies to identify deficits and remedies in complex cases such as suicide attempts, depression, abuse, mania, aggression, noncompliance, personality disorders, dual diagnosis, violence and substance abuse. The social worker's use of a holistic approach ensures patient and family's input into planning and treatment. The social worker coordinates and develops a discharge plan through an integrated approach with team, patient, system and community agencies. The clinical social worker also serves as the community liaison for the unit, and may become involved in specific legal aspects of the patient's care such as involuntary commitment hearings, hearings etc. The unpredictable nature of psychiatric patients requires the clinical worker to exercise flexibility and quick decision-making skills in order to assess various situations and plan or intervene as needed. In this role, work is performed with considerable independence, but also requires teamwork and collaboration. Some evening or weekend work will be required to meet family and patient needs.*Valid North Carolina driver's license is required for this position. *Must successfully complete Criminal Justice Certification requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing effective case management including crisis management.

Necessary Special Qualification Requirements - One must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.Necessary Special Qualification:Applicants for positions designated as Juvenile Justice Officers are subject to and must meet the hiring and training standards established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, as defined in Title 12, Chapter 9 of the NC Administrative Code, by the statutory authority of GS 17C.Selected applicant must attend and successfully complete and pass the Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training certification program. The certification requires four weeks to complete and is comprised of classroom and physically demanding training. This training is carried out at regional training centers and requires consecutive overnight stays.
