
Contract Human Resources Manager

- Manage relationships between management and the union, assisting with handling grievances, contract interpretation, and assisting managers with navigating the discipline process.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and collective bargaining agreement.
- Provide guidance to management and employees on employee relations issues, promoting fair treatment and open communication.
- Investigate employee complaints, handle disciplinary actions, and resolve conflicts in a fair, consistent manner.
- Partner with the leadership team to implement and communicate HR policies and procedures effectively.
- Work in tandem with the recruiting team to manage the recruiting process, including developing job descriptions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation processes, ensuring new hires understand job expectations, company policies, and union guidelines.
- Support managers in coaching and developing employees, identifying skill gaps, and creating development plans as needed.
- Coordinate training sessions to promote skill development and safety awareness in alignment with operational goals.
- Partner with payroll/HR management/timekeeping to address any payroll concerns and ensure accuracy.
- Assist employees with questions about benefits, leave, and other related HR programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of HR management experience in a unionized manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, labor relations, and best practices in HR management.
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, and handling union matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is preferred but not required.
