Office Coordinator, Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL)Office Coordinator for Student Engagement and Learning will assist in the creation and implementation of a comprehensive plan that provides targeted opportunities for student involvement in co-curricular activities that promote engagement, leadership and service to enhance student learning and development.RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-inclusive):
  • Serve as the primary contact for student clubs and organizations. Process activity request forms submitted by student organizations daily. Approve/deny and provide guidance for each request. Meet with students to provide technical and logistical assistance with event planning and implementation: budgeting, advertising, set-up, adhering to campus guidelines, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for activities including reserving space (25Live), submitting facilities/maintenance requests (SchoolDude), making purchases (Clockshop) and placing food orders (Breakers or outside vendor).
  • Set guidelines and expectations for shared spaces. Provide oversight for the S-211 student lounge and S-217 student collaboration space. Mediate conflicts that may arise.
  • Update and maintain internal and external membership rosters for Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, Alpha Delta Nu, Mu Alpha Theta, and other nationally affiliated student organizations. Assist with developing membership processes including collecting dues, sending out invitations, coordinating orientations, purchasing graduation regalia, event planning, etc.
  • Act as a co-adviser for Lakeland Student Government (LSG) and Campus Activities Board (CAB).
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of Inter-Club Council (ICC) leadership workshops (twice/semester) for all student organizations.
  • Coordinate small-scale programming for the entire student body such as Lakers Crew, Scavenger Hunts, Commencement Flower Sales, Finals Week Stress Relievers, Themed Athletic Events, etc.
  • Organize fall and spring Campus Involvement Fairs. Create a festive and energetic event environment for new and returning students to become engaged and connected on campus. Provide outreach to student support departments, student organizations, and community partners to participate. Coordinate food, refreshments, giveaways, decor, event layout, and table assignments. Create event marketing and advertising to increase student attendance.
  • Organize the Student Leader and Organization Awards Ceremony. Solicit and review nominations, select and present awards to winners. Coordinate invitations, awards, food, and post-ceremony activities.
  • Publish the Campus Connection E-Newsletter. Develop specialized editions focused on educational initiatives, student success stories, and campus accolades.
  • Create social media content for SEAL's social media pages. Remain current with new social media trends and apps to reach all pockets of Lakeland's diverse student body. Serve as a resource for all student organizations creating social media content. Provide website updates to marketing as needed.
  • Encourage students to become involved in extracurricular and co-curricular activities by developing and delivering formal presentations as a guest presenter for First-Year Experience and other initiatives when the college receives visitors for campus. Meet with students interested in forming new student clubs and organizations to review college procedures.
  • Assist with the administration of formal student leadership and peer mentorship programs, and other leadership development programs. Such programs may include Emerging Leaders, Student Connectors, Peer Educators, and/or Student Ambassadors.
  • Assist with mandated training for students in areas such as Collin's Law/Anti-Hazing, Sexual Misconduct Prevention, Title IX, Alcohol/Drug, Suicide Prevention, Financial Literacy, Constitution Day, Voter Registration, Campus Security Authorities/Mandated Reporters, etc.
  • Research new trends, successes, initiatives and best practices in the field of student affairs and student engagement; establish a vision and set goals for the department.

QUALIFICATIONS * Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree augmented by well-rounded and active participation in college co-curricular activities
  • Work or graduate experience in areas of student affairs, student leadership, or campus activities
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising
  • Experience developing, marketing, and implementing programming for target audiences
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Principles and practices of student activities support programs at higher education institutions.
  • Student personnel and leadership development programs and techniques.
  • Community college engagement.
  • Evaluate programming needs, appreciate differences among populations and establish effective interpersonal working relationships.

. The anticipated hiring range is $19.03/hour - $22.06/hour * Non-insurance benefits include paid time away (vacation, personal, sick, and holiday pay) and prorated tuition.
  • The work schedule of up to 29 hours per week is as follows: Monday - Thursday, 11:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.
  • Please note: The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
