Location: Kent Campus HospitalStatus: Full Time 80 HoursShift: DaysSALARY RANGE: 17.83 - 26.75HOURLYGeneral Summary:The Patient Cost Estimation Representative is the primary liaison for families and internal staff seeking cost estimation quotes as it relates to a patient’s benefit plan; directly securing volume and revenue within the Network. Candidate will have knowledge of the organization’s charge masters, patient benefit design, and an ability to communicate information surrounding price estimates by service, including applicable discounts, in a professional, polite, family-friendly atmosphere.Responsibilities:1. Minimizes patient complaints through effective and accurate communication and education related to patient out-of-pocket costs for hospital and physician services.
2. Cultivates internal relationships at the departmental level to gain support and participation in patient cost estimation initiatives.
3. Communicates organizational and patient needs around cost estimation to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
4. Identifies discrepancies within EHR Tool and communicates those to management.
5. Identifies opportunities to improve revenue cycle performance related to patient cost estimation.
6. Accepts payments made in advance of service and hands off to appropriate billing office for posting to patient account.
7. For patient/families with insurance, calculate patient estimate based on plan, benefits and out of pocket thresholds; discuss and finalize method of payment. Ensures all activities are documented within EHR. Ensures all completed estimates are issued in letter format.
8. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilitiesRequired Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

Required: No experience required.Preferred: One year experience in medical billing and collections, medical bad debt collections or intern/externship of medical billing experience related to a certification program. Working knowledge of hospital and/or physician coding rules. Demonstrated analytical experience.Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
