- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in routine nursing situations within the LPN scope of practice.
- Under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed provider, the LPN assists in patient care, treatment, and comfort.
- This role is an integral part of the healthcare team, ensuring quality care in alignment with Emory Healthcare's patient and family-centered care standards.
- Patient Care & Clinical Duties: Provide patient care based on an individualized plan delegated by the Registered Nurse/Physician.
- Monitor and document patient conditions, including vital signs, wound care, drains, and lab values.
- Assist with medical procedures, treatments, and medication administration as per scope of practice.
- Collect and document patient data using specialized equipment as needed (e.g., glucometer, pulse oximeter).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment following safety and infection control protocols.
- Communication & Collaboration: Establish and maintain communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Inform the supervising Registered Nurse/Physician about patient activities, observations, and changes in condition.
- Provide patient and family education related to health conditions, treatment plans, and home care.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of patient medical records.
- Adhere to universal precautions and patient safety standards in all interactions.
- Follow Emory Healthcare's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Improvement & Professional Development
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices in patient care.
- Conduct or assist with in-service training and continuous learning opportunities.
- May serve on sectional, departmental, or organizational committees as needed.
- Education:High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
- Experience: Previous experience preferred but not required.
- Licensure: A valid, unencumbered license as a Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
- Skills: Strong patient care, communication, and documentation skills.
- Certifications: BLS
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Previous nursing experience preferred but not required.
