- Work closely with the Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
- Review permits and regulations for actionable requirements. Develop and maintain tracking systems to assure implementation and compliance.
- Monitor, review, collate, and analyze regulatory data. Assure timely internal and external reporting as required.
- Routinely communicate the status of ongoing issues and developments to the Environmental Manager and other plant personnel.
- Respond to environmental issues or concerns and provide guidance to staff where applicable.
- Support or lead environmental projects as assigned by the Environmental Manager.
- Perform environmental investigations to identify root causes and develop prevention strategies and continuous improvement programs.
- Routinely audit regulatory data, document control, and compliance status
- Support wastewater and plant operations teams as needed.
- Support interactions with regulatory agencies and plant leadership as needed.
- Pursue and participate in continuing technical education as deemed necessary by the Environmental Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Environmental Manager or Wastewater Supervisor.
- Professional communication skills and ability to respond effectively to environmental compliance inquiries and/or complaints. Must be able to communicate under pressure.
- Ability to review and understand technical information, then translate it into actionable tasks or procedures.
- Willingness and ability to serve on call and/or work nights, weekends, or holidays as the need arises.
- Ability and willingness to support the wastewater team as needs arise.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound decision-making skills required.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, SCADA, and other industrial software platforms.
- Comfortable working in odorous, hot, humid, dirty, noisy, or generally unsavory environments. Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and in inclement weather.
- Valid Idaho driver’s license, dependable transportation, and personal cell required.
- Relatable education preferred
- Five plus years of related industrial environmental compliance experience required
- Relatable operational experience preferred (Industrial, wastewater, drinking water).
- Wastewater/Reuse permits and land application
- Stormwater permitting and SWPPP requirements
- Public drinking water program
- Sanitary sewer permit
- Air permit requirements
- GHG reporting
- EPCRA reporting requirements
- Waste management programs (RCRA)
- Oil Pollution Act (SPCC) implementation
- Groundwater monitoring
- Water and wastewater licenses preferred but not required
