
2nd Shift - Manufacturing Packaging Lead

- 2rd shift runs from 3pm-11pm M-F (with occasional Saturdays)
- Operate the packaging line in a safe and professional manner and as per operation guidelines
- Provide assistance and training of equipment operations, including; cartoner, metal detector, VFFS scale, form fill/seal machine, case sealer, and palletizer; ensure cleaning and maintenance is performed as needed; must operate equipment without assistance
- Monitor bulk density and finished material without assistance; monitor finished material appearance, blend, and weigh ingredients without assistance; utilize the Repalletization Program with minimal assistance
- Ensure all paperwork is complete in an accurate and timely manner; ensure the documentation complies with Balchem standards
- Keep a neat, clean, and orderly work setting by completing the cleaning tasks as assigned; complete the Master Sanitation Schedule as necessary
- Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, and report potentially unsafe conditions
- Operate a forklift in a safe and professional manner; maintain forklift certification.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
- Monitor product quality to meet Balchem standards; report to Supervisor any deviation from scheduling or quality of service that may become a potential liability; resolve all operations problems as necessary during the shift
- Attend all Company-sponsored training events, i.e., safety training talks and annual training sessions, targeted for continuing personal growth and development; know and follow all QC, QA, GMP, and OSHA training procedures
- Report to your Supervisor any failure to adhere to Balchem work ethics and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, i.e. personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance and upkeep
- Become proficient in areas of production and safety policies and procedures (accident/injury reporting, blood borne pathogens, confined spaces, emergency evacuation, equipment operation/maintenance, hazard communication, ladders, lockout/tag out, personal protective equipment, etc.)
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Must have previous supervisory experience
- Must be a certified forklift operator
- Individual must be equipped with strong motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (both orally and written)
- Must have excellent attention to detail and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Demonstration of strong work ethics (punctual, dependable, and trustworthy)
- Ability to utilize common sense and skills in completing responsibilities and operating equipment conforming to Company production, personnel, and safety procedures
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Must be able to communicate and handle conflict in a professional manner
- Ability to give and welcome feedback and contribute to building a positive team spirit
- You will continually be required to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling objects, talk, and use your vision and hearing abilities
- Regularly, you will be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, following proper ergonomic principles
- Periodically, you will need to lift up to 50 pounds, using safe and proper lifting techniques and equipment
- You will be engaged in repetitive motions including but not limited to tasks associated with unboxing, loading, moving, and packaging product
