Description :Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.Salary Range: $21.28/hr - $25.54/hrShift: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4 pmResponsibilities:
  • Facilitate Self-Advocacy program for all Adult Day program sites, including the coordination of relevant workshops, yearly projects, fundraising opportunities, and other Self-Advocacy events.
  • Assist in providing social skills training in a group setting to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social functioning.
  • Assist with intake of new participants and associated paperwork.
  • Act as liaison with internal and outside resources, (i.e. other DDI programs, DDI Transportation, Self-Advocacy of NYS, other agencies, etc.)
  • Maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, accountable, and confidential manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work
  • Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with the Developmentally Disabled population.
Essential Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift/move/carry 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to kneel, twist and bend.
  • Must be able to perform all physical SCIP techniques.
