Position Overview

The Superintendent Intern helps in overseeing the field crews in the operations department and professionally represents Radiance Solar, LLC on the jobsite. They will be responsible for helping the Superintendents on the job with any and all aspects of the project, including, but not limited to assisting with solar construction/equipment and buildout, establishing construction schedules and reviewing accounting reports, and managing overall solar job site construction.
Key Responsibilities
Specific duties will vary based on the size, complexity, and type of project assigned but will generally be assigned to small-scope, short-duration jobs. Occasional brief assignments to other job sites during the course of an assigned project are normal. Typically, an Intern can expect to:
Shadow Superintendent who prepares cost estimates, construction budgets, and construction schedules (on-the-job training). Some of what they will observe and learn:Inspect worksites.Determine material, subcontractor, and labor requirements.Participate in pre-construction meetings.Coordinate and direct all on-site activities of Radiance employees, sub-contractors, craftsmen, tradesmen, and vendors to ensure that the company’s goals and standards are met:Help to ensure that jobs are completed on schedule and on budget.Review invoices and timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms.Ensure timely and effective communication with the Property Manager, Maintenance Supervisor and the PM concerning all aspects of the project.Other duties as assigned and depends on how quickly the Intern trains and becomes an independent worker.
Qualifications
The Intern will be called upon to communicate effectively with other Radiance employees, vendors, subcontractors and clients including property-level personnel.Assistant Superintendents should have sufficient education, or experience in lieu of education, and communication skills to effectively discharge their assigned duties.Interns must be physically able to lift heavy loads, climb ladders and work on active construction jobsites.Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.Must be in school to obtain a Construction Management Degree or similar coursework with a minimum of 30 hours completed toward their degree program.Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others.Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.Age 18+Proof of Identity and Employment AuthorizationValid clean state driver’s license with reliable transportation.Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen & criminal background check.Basic computer skills including Microsoft office and uploading documents and pictures.
Physical Requirements
Stand or walk for long periods of time.Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.See well (naturally or with correction).Eye-hand coordination.Good physical fitness.Good sense of balance.Work at great heights.
