Our program is ranked 5th in the world for environmental and occupational health programs.DEOHS is seeking a part-time temporary Digital Communications Coordinator (payroll title: Public Information Specialist, Grade 7). This position is benefits eligible and will be 50% FTE or greater. The project period is seven months and maybe be extended.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Digital Communications Coordinator will join our department's Communications team. Primary responsibilities include contributing to the digital communication content generation, posting, and management; writing additional content; providing guidance to various department research, academic, and service teams. The Digital Communications Coordinator plays a key role in supporting and executing the department's communications strategy. The successful candidate is passionate about creating and maintaining digital and social media content that conveys the department's academic, research and service activities to a diverse audience. This role calls for a creative collaborator and idea-generator who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, upbeat team environment.The Digital Communications Coordinator reports to the DEOHS Director of Communications and Public Relations and works collaboratively as part of a four-person communications team that defines and shapes DEOHS's brand and reputation through our expertise in communications strategy, messaging, design and storytelling.Social Media (50% FTE)
  • Assist with the design and execution of social media posts and campaigns.
  • Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote the department on various social media channels.
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.
  • Perform social media marketing research.
  • Respond to comments and messages on social media platforms.
  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content.
  • Create compelling graphics to share across social channels.
  • Write social media captions that speak to the company's target audience.
  • Ensure all content is developed through a lens of diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
  • Ensure brand message is consistent.
Digital Communications (50% FTE)
  • Load content into the website and other content management systems in the correct format.
  • Support members of the department in formatting and sharing their messaging internally and externally.
  • Re-work existing content to meet the changing needs of both the department and groups within.
  • Track mentions of our faculty and other department members in the media and post those instances to the website.
  • Review posters, fact sheets and other materials created by members of the department to ensure they meet brand standards and graphic design best practices.
  • Ensure all content is developed through a lens of diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
  • May include other duties as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A bachelor's degree in communications, design or a related field or equivalent experience. Two years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Adept at organizational proficiency and project management, ability to prioritize work and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capacity to work professionally with many constituencies, personalities and workstyles (e.g., staff, faculty, students, alumni, friends, vendors, donors and volunteers) to meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented in both copy editing and design review.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • A keen interest in digital communications, social media, content marketing and accessibility of digital content.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently. Must be flexible in a fast-paced setting and able to work under deadline pressure with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and actively contribute as a member of working teams to achieve results.
  • Must be customer service-minded in the interaction, planning and execution of all projects.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with posting on social media for an organization.
  • Experience with HTML.
  • Excited about learning new skills and growing in your career.
  • Experience working in a state agency, higher education or other nonprofit organization.
