- Assist with the patient movement for admission to the state mental health treatment facilities.
- Maintains, or assists with the accuracte facility reporting of Daily Census/ Daily Reports related to bed availability, discharges or patient movement.
- Reviews adult forensic facility admission packets while on duty and document diagnoses, signs, symptoms, and reported medical conditions. Determine the appropriateness for commitment, and when indicated, contact DCF legal counsel for revew and response.
- May act as coordinater, or back up of the Juvenile Incompetent to Proceed Program by reviewing all commitment packets, determining appropriateness of commitment, and referring cases to the contracted providers. Maintain waiting lists. Initiate contact with DCF legal counsel when indicated, and juvenile court officials as needed. Work with the DCF Contract Manager to ensure compliance. Review performance data and respond accordingly based on status of the information.
- Assists with coordinating/participating in improvements /enhancements/testing for the internal patient tracking and movement database (Forensic Database)
- Provides critical reporting from forensic database and data analysis to inform current goals and outcomes.
- Maintains or assists with the Undocumented Immigrants status list and the forensic to civil transfer list and is actively engaged in ensuring accuracy and appropriate resident movement.
- Takes an active approach to learning and participating in packet entry, packet review, scheduling and return to court patient movement.
- May be required to actively participates in preparing/drafting/coordinating bill analyses, drafting legislation, implementing passed legislaion for Ch. 916, FS, and Ch. 394, FS.
- Serves or assists as Interstate Compact Coordinator for Florida pursuant to Chapter 394, F.S.
- Appropriately and timely responds to requests for assistance from team members and Leadership regarding forensic procedures, policies and rules.
- Provides critical reporting from forensic database and data analysis to inform current goals and outcomes.
- Manages projects and completes a variety of assignments, including development of issue papers, memos, responding to inquiries from stakeholders, and other correspondence.
- Oversees non-routine admission and discharge requests and develops a process to handle requests for transfers between facilities and out of catchment admissions. Conducts various other projects and data analysis related to the discharge of individuals from the state mental health treatment facilities.

- Two years of experience serving as a lead or assistant on a major project.
- Two years of experience proofing, editing and generating written correspondence.
- A bachelor's degree from a college or university is preferred and four years of professional experience in Criminal Justice, Social Work or related fields.
- A master's degree from a college or university can substitute for one year of the preferred experience.
- Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
- Experience in the criminal justice, mental health, or social work fields.
- Experience with Florida's state mental health treatment facilities, as governed by Chapters 916 or 394, Florida Statutes.
- Experience drafting, analyzing, or implementing legislation.
