The Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI) is Massachusetts' lead agency for refugee resettlement and immigrant integration into society. The Program Associate is an integral part of the success of the agency’s mission and mandate.Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):
  • Supports the daily operation of the Program Team that includes, but is not limited to, collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data, preparing reports, and conducting research analysis on new program policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance and supports the program staff to troubleshoot service provision issues.
  • Responds to programmatic inquiries from sister agencies, providers, community-based organizations, and constituents.
  • Creates, prepares, and distributes documents for site visits such as monitoring packets.
  • Organizes and coordinates events such as the Quarterly Consultations, providers trainings/meeting etc.
  • Supports contracts procurement efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Knowledge of the proper format/procedure for assembling items of information.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to establish rapport, maintain harmonious relationships, and deal tactfully with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' state laws, policies and guidelines that govern ORI's operations and activities.
  • Knowledge of ORI's organization structure.
  • Knowledge of the diverse refugee and immigrant-serving programs and services.
  • Understanding of the diverse cultures in the Commonwealth and the challenges and barriers faced by our refugee and immigrant communities.
  • Develops and maintains collaboration and partnership with diverse public and private sectors.

About the Office for Refugees and Immigrants:In 1985, the Massachusetts Office of Refugee Resettlement was designated by MA Executive Order to be responsible for refugee affairs in the state. In 1992, the state legislature established the Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI). The ORI Executive Director serves as the State Refugee Coordinator per the Refugee Act of 1980 and state law. The Office administers programs that provide direct services to clients through a network of resettlement agencies, faith-based organizations and ethnic community-based organizations, which have the capacity to serve the culturally and linguistically diverse needs of newcomer populations.
