Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented in office Steel Detailer with expertise in AutoCAD to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing precise and comprehensive steel fabrication and erection drawings that guide the construction of steel structures such as buildings and bridges. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and fabricators to ensure all plans meet structural requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Reading and Interpreting Plans:
Analyze architectural and structural drawings to fully understand design specifications and project requirements. * Creating Shop Drawings:Develop detailed steel component drawings, including dimensions, materials, welding symbols, and connection details. * Developing Erection Plans:Produce erection drawings that ensure the safe and efficient installation of structural steel elements. * Utilizing AutoCAD:Use AutoCAD software to draft and modify 2D and 3D models with a high degree of accuracy and attention to industry standards. * Ensuring Compliance:Verify that all drawings comply with standards such as AISC, AWS, OSHA, and applicable local building codes. * Team Collaboration:Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve design issues and maintain project timelines. * Material Takeoffs:Calculate quantities and types of steel materials required for fabrication and erection. * Quality Control:Review and check all drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before final submission. Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5 years + steel detailing fabrication experience with ability to read contract plan documents
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD:
Strong command of AutoCAD for 3D modeling. * Technical Knowledge:Solid understanding of steel fabrication, erection procedures, and structural detailing principles. * Attention to Detail:High level of precision and focus to produce accurate, error-free drawings. * Problem-Solving Abilities:Capable of identifying and resolving design inconsistencies and construction challenges. * Effective Communication:Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly. * Industry Standards Knowledge:Familiarity with codes and standards including AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction), AWS (American Welding Society), and OSHA. * Licenses:Valid Driver’s License
