Industrial Painter/Industrial Coater First shift$20-$23/hr
Primary Purpose of the Job:
This position prepares steel surfaces for Plastisol lining and spray painting of corrosion test chambers and related
equipment. The chambers are coated with Plastisol lining material and the coating is “cured” utilizing an industrial oven.
Once coated, primer and paint are applied utilizing a paint spray gun in a spray booth. The position involves a great deal of
forklift maneuvering. It also requires respirator usage for certain tasks.
Essential Duties:
1. Review and analyze orders for accuracy/applicability.
2. Inspect sandblasted steel structures for dents or areas that need additional prep; Repair or prep accordingly.
3. Apply primer to prepare parts and structure for plastisol coating.
4. Operate a forklift to hold/manipulate structure(s); apply plastisol to steel structures; and adhere plastisol to structure using
an industrial oven to “bake” coating.
5. Ensure complete, seamless and even plastisol coating of all structures and parts; all interior chamber shell sides, as well as
chamber edges and trough.
6. Inspect coated steel structures for dents or areas that need additional prep; Repair or prep accordingly.
7. Grind steel surfaces using hand-held grinders and tools to prepare surfaces for paint.
8. Mix paint and hardeners properly and apply primer and paint coats utilizing a paint spray gun.
9. Observe health safety by wearing prescribed protective masks and/or breathing apparatus during processes.
Other Duties:
10. Perform routine machine, equipment, and facility maintenance.
11. Keep all work areas clean and organized.
12. Document time and material for parts and equipment.
13. Follow all safety policies.
14. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work
cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Required Skills/Experience:
? Experience with performing autobody work, metal surface prep, spray booth painting, paint guns, and/or working with an
industrial oven, a plus.
? Ability to learn job-related material through oral instruction and observation.
? Ability to safely operate forklift.
? Ability to accurately read measuring instruments (i.e. rulers, tapes, gauges, etc.)
? Strong mechanical background and the ability to use basic hand and/or power tools.
? Ability to trouble-shoot: determine what is causing an operating error and decide what to do about it.
? Strong work ethic – ability to report on time for all scheduled workdays/shifts.
Required Education:
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic are required.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical training would be a plus.
1-3 years manufacturing experience also a plus.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Machine and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment
to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection and respirators. Position includes the ability to:
? Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
? Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.
? Lift objects up to 75 pounds.
