- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
- Allocate and manage department resources (personnel, equipment, budget) to optimize productivity.
- Engineering & Design:
- Oversee all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal processes.
- Perform calculations using specialized software.
- Review and approve fabrication drawings and calculations for code compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive design packages, including calculations, inspection travelers, weld maps, and bills of materials.
- Stay current with industry specifications and code changes to ensure department compliance.
- Project Management:
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, and Operations to develop competitive manufacturing plans.
- Estimate material and labor costs for manufacturing projects, contributing to accurate and competitive proposals.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the shop floor and customers, resolving engineering-related issues.
- Manage vendor RFQs for material costs and ensure timely updates to customer pricing.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department, enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and implement improvements in engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Design for Six Sigma – DFM/A, FMEA, FEA and Problem-Solving Tools
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience in engineered to order and shop fabrication of metal fabricated products.
- Proven leadership experience in a supervisory role within an engineering department.
- Strong understanding of welding practices.
- Proficiency in ASME and API software.
- Experience with design and estimation or project management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of metals markets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Unable to provide sponsorship at this time.
