- Responsible for project budgets and schedules.
- Prepare specifications, assemble drawing/bid packages, attend design reviews, evaluates bids, make recommendations to management, review drawings, perform factory inspections, witness testing, and perform equipment receiving inspections.
- Provide engineering assistance for equipment field installation, startup, troubleshooting and warranty claims.
- Participate in vendor quality management and lead equipment trials.
- Lead equipment failure root cause analysis and failure response.
- Provide equipment end-of-life recommendations and documentation.
- Act as an in-house engineering consultant and/or advisor in a technical specialty to other organizations inside SRP.
- Act as an engineering project leader on important projects.
- Administer, review and evaluate technical studies and analysis performed by consultants or others.
- Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations.
- Participate in industry forums and organizations.
- Travel (Domestic and International) for job related purposes.
- Performs field engineering work
- Performs engineering analyses.
- Knowledge of specifying and procuring major substation equipment, and/or experience in substation design.
- Knowledge of power transmission and distribution fundamentals including substation equipment applications.
- A good understanding of substation design and maintenance is a plus.
- Familiarity with design and safety practices including IEEE, ANSI, ASTM, NEC, and NESC.
- Familiarity with electrical drawings and standards including related area such as design, relaying, control, telecom, etc.
- Ability to work effectively within SRP as well as entities outside of SRP.
- Must be able to work as a member of a team and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Able to work in high pressure situations on highly critical equipment under compressed deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills both oral and written.
- Skilled at communicating complex concepts to varying audiences.
- A history of building strong relationships with customers, internal and external.
- Willing to think critically and offer solutions to complex problems.
