Description :SUMMARY: Offers the option of rotating between our three (4) sites to include Akron, OH (Product Testing), Ravenna, OH (Tire & Wheel), Raco, MI (Winter Proving Grounds/Test Center) & Pearsall, TX (Proving Grounds/Test Center) during the program.Akron, OH: Learn and experience mechanical, electrical, corrosion and chemical testing, test methods and identification. You will be accountable for setting up and performing specific tests, collecting accurate test data, testing, and reviewing reports, report to the Product Testing Supervisor, and collaborate with engineers, chemists, and technicians in each department.Ravenna, OH: Learn and experience wheel testing, including specs, setup, failure analysis, reporting and customer interaction. You will be accountable for wheel testing specifications, setup, and reporting, report to an Engineering Supervisor, and collaborate with Operations leadership.Raco, MI & Pearsall, TX: Learn and create test plans, procedures, worksheets, and reports based upon test standards. Understand and review test reports for completeness, accuracy, and general reasonableness. Assist in the set up and oversee the installation and operation of the tire buffing machine. Work on tire traction testing/projects.You will be accountable for engineering support for task as assigned, assist in the creation of equipment procedures and guidelines, oversee daily snow characterization measurements to ensure measurements are taken accurately and consistently, and report to and collaborate with the Senior Engineer onsite.**At the end of each rotation, you will present deliverables, experiences, and recommendations.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The expectation of the Co-Op includes fundamental understanding of:
  • Fluid dynamics, stress/strain analysis
  • Data analysis regarding tests, troubleshooting, problem solving
  • Physical/mechanical testing – wheel testing
  • Material/mechanical property testing
  • Product life cycle testing, test method, and equipment development
  • Designing and constructing test stands, designing, and constructing test equipment
  • Market and supplier research
  • Possible Return on Investment (ROI) creation
  • Test method and equipment development (i.e., cyclical corrosion)
  • Design and build equipment
  • Chemical, electrical and corrosion testing
  • Contaminant identification and compound analysis and formula reconstruction
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Effective verbal communication skills with team members and potential external customers
  • Ownership for assigned lab areas including equipment, supplies, environmental health, and safety (EHS), and cleanliness
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Currently enrolled in applicable technical discipline from an accredited school
  • Minimum grade of 3.0 out of 4.0 scale without rounding for GPA
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Manufacturing experience in a development process engineering environment
Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Basic proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience using statistical tools and concepts (e.g., EXCEL, Minitab, etc.)
  • Experience working a team-based environment
  • Strong technical documentation and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
