
Flight Dynamics Model Developer

- Support verification and validation activities that rely on the model outputs
- Develop models for real-time simulation, performance predictions, and various analyses
- Iterate on models as new data becomes available from higher fidelity CFD methods, windtunnel, and flight test
- Develop and improve the software methods behind the modeling tools and workflows
- Document models’ correlation and validation against experimental data
- Work closely with other engineers/teams to determine the required model accuracy
- Collaborate with test pilots to improve the model fidelity based on feedback from simulator sessions
- B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a relevant discipline
- 5-7 years of industry in relevant disciplines
- Experience credit considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 5 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job.
- Strong understanding of aircraft and rotorcraft aerodynamics, and flight dynamics • Experience with C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python
- Excellent problem-solving, software debugging, and communication skills
- Experience with configuration control and management of models
- Ability to work in groups and individually
- Experience with surrogate models
- Strong understanding of aircraft stability and control derivatives
- Experience correlating and validating aerodynamics models using experimental data • Understanding of data fitting and data regression methods
- Previous experience working on an aviation certification program
