- At a minimum, a high school degree or equivalent (18+ years of age)
- 2-3 years of experience in the field of gymnastics through personal participation or instruction
- Experience training competitive gymnastics preferred; general knowledge of gymnastics required
- Experience working with or teaching youth gymnastics preferred; interest in learning to work with or teach youth gymnastics required
- CPR and First Aid certifications must be current within 30 days of hire
- Acts as a positive, self-confident role model for YMCA Gymnastics class participants
- Maintains a professional demeanor and a safe and effective learning environment appropriate for children at all times
- Teaches the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced]
- Willing to learn teaching techniques/drills/hand spotting for all the class curriculums
- Creates and implements lesson plans and rotation schedules for classes
- Monitor Gymnastics Instructor Aides when in the Gymnastics Center
- Assists with equipment maintenance, including cleaning and advises Head Coach of equipment needs and repairs
- Performs other assigned duties as directed by the Supervisor
- Ability to move equipment; must have the strength to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 90 pounds
- Able to observe and evaluate activities from up to 30 yards away in an indoor gym setting
