Travel: Up to 50%, including occasional short-notice assignmentsWe’re hiring a hands-on, technically capable Automation Field Technician to support a growing industrial controls and automation team. This role combines travel-based customer site support with shop-based responsibilities during downtime. Candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of the company's facility for non-travel periods.What You’ll Do:Perform on-site commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial automation systemsDiagnose and correct malfunctions in PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and related componentsConduct preventive maintenance and system performance testsInterpret control schematics, wiring layouts, and equipment documentationCommunicate directly with clients on-site to understand challenges and ensure high satisfactionMaintain thorough documentation on service activities, components used, and outcomesSupport system integration tasks in collaboration with engineering staffMaintain a strong safety mindset in all field and facility environmentsWhat We’re Looking For:Solid experience working with industrial control systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, VFDs)Proven troubleshooting skills in field environmentsAbility to read and apply technical documents like schematics and wiring diagramsExcellent communication and customer service abilitiesWillingness to travel regularly and work independently in varying conditionsMust be based within a two-hour commute of the Minneapolis region
