:As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Entry Level Bridge Engineer, Hydraulics to support our Transportation group in our Atlanta, GA office. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance.Working on the at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all​.What you’ll be challenged to do:As a Bridge Hydraulics Engineer, you will develop 1D and 2D hydraulic models and conduct hydraulic studies to support bridge design projects. You’ll also contribute to multidisciplinary engineering efforts and receive hands-on training in industry-standard modeling tools such as HEC-RAS and SMS (SRH2D). This is a growth-oriented position that allows for cross-training in final bridge design based on project needs and personal interest.In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Develop and apply hydraulic models to determine bridge lengths, profiles, and preliminary layouts.
  • Prepare hydraulic studies that meet state and federal design criteria.
  • Assist with site inspections of existing bridges to determine field conditions.
  • Review project designs for compliance with engineering principles, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Support plan preparation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Receive guidance from senior engineers and project managers on project goals, technical challenges, and quality standards.
  • Participate in internal and external training opportunities to support continued professional development.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines throughout project development.
:What you'll bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • 0–3 years of experience in bridge or hydraulic design.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
What we prefer you bring:
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling and study preparation for GDOT bridge projects.
  • Engineer-in-training (EIT) certificate.
  • General knowledge of roadway drainage.
  • Familiarity with FEMA compliance requirements.
  • Bridge Final Design experience.
  • Interest in cross-training in bridge design and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Compensation:The range for this position is salary range is $72,000-$85,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.Featured Benefits:
