
Academic Interventionist

The Academic Interventionist supports students in developing essential literacy & Math skills through targeted instruction and intervention. This educator works closely with students who are struggling with reading and/or math, providing personalized strategies, resources, and support. Responsibilities include assessing literacy skills, designing individualized learning plans, delivering small-group or one-on-one instruction, and tracking student progress. The ultimate goal is to ensure all students make meaningful academic growth in reading.Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze academic data to assess students' reading & math abilities and identify those in need of additional support
- Design and implement intervention programs tailored to individual student needs
- Provide targeted instruction in one-on-one and small group settings
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and families to support student achievement
- Communicate regularly with teachers and parents to provide updates on progress
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices
- Work hours: 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM
- Attend weekly staff meetings on Wednesdays until 4:45 PM
- Attend and participate in all school-wide professional development sessions and apply learned strategies
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Follow classroom and school-wide schedules established by the Leadership Team
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and community engagements
- Implement and support school-wide behavior expectations
- Comply with all expectations outlined in the KCCS Employee and Student/Parent Handbook
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment
- Participate in 8 days of pre-service training prior to the start of each school year
- Maintain documentation and artifacts aligned with the KCCS accountability plan
- Undergo annual performance reviews and be held accountable for student achievement outcomes
- Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., arrival/dismissal, coverage, lunch duty, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience as an Academic Interventionist or in a similar instructional role
- Deep understanding of effective reading strategies and intervention programs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Master's degree in Education or Special Education (preferred)
- Valid teaching certification required
