- Safely lift, load, unload, and transport baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft.
- Deliver passenger luggage and cargo to designated locations.
- Guide incoming and departing aircraft from the gate using hand signals and wing walking procedures
- Service aircraft water and lavatory.
- Safely driving and operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in areas of congestion.
- Operate baggage scanners and computers to ensure baggage is routed accurately to the customer's destination.
- Inspect ramp areas adjacent to gate and aircraft for debris and remove/dispose of when found.
- Maintain clear communication with flight crews and other ground personnel
- Monitor weather conditions and take appropriate safety measures
- Perform regular equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority and carrier safety and security requirements.
- Additional duties as assigned
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to pass a physical capability test.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to obtain & maintain as airport SIDA badge, US Customs seal, and USPS security clearance.
- Ability to work any shift, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and Holidays
- Lifting up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to get along with others.
- Understanding and ability to utilize electronic tools to interpret flight schedules and airline flight destination information
- Performing basic mathematical functions (e.g., counting bags, verifying cargo weights)
- Ability to give/receive oral instructions in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Previous airport experience
- Previous experience working in a physically demanding job
- Lift, carry, and place weighted standardized boxes, suitcases, or duffel bags from floor height to overhead.
- Climb steps carrying weighted standardized box, suitcase, or duffel bags.
- Sit and rotate to the left, right, and behind and visually identify a letter or number.
- Pull a weighted sled a standardized distance.
