Structural Engineer – Industrial Projects
Location: Lakeland, FLWe are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join a growing industrial engineering team in Lakeland, FL. This is an immediate, full-time opportunity supporting heavy industrial facilities, including phosphate, fertilizer, and other manufacturing plants. The ideal candidate will bring advanced structural engineering expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a multidiscipline environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analyses using hand calculations and structural analysis software.
  • Prepare finite element models, interpret FEA results, and incorporate findings into technical documents.
  • Design steel structures, heavy foundations, and shallow and deep foundation systems.
  • Independently prepare drawings and direct/convey concepts to designers or other staff for drafting.
  • Develop technical reports, front-end-loading (FEL) studies, and material takeoffs for construction cost estimates.
  • Review vendor documentation and provide construction administration support (e.g., shop drawing reviews, RFI responses).
  • Conduct field visits to gather data, perform inspections, and observe construction activities.
  • Act as engineer-of-record and/or structural discipline lead as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, I&C, process, and piping teams in a multidiscipline environment.
  • Support business development efforts through proposals and client interactions.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and project status updates while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred; must be able to obtain within 6–12 months if not already licensed.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience designing for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Deep knowledge of steel, concrete, and foundation design for industrial structures.
  • Expertise in finite element modeling and familiarity with dynamic, modal, and time history analysis.
  • Proficiency with structural codes and standards.
  • Experience with STAAD, RISA-3D, and AutoCAD (Revit a plus).
  • Ability to work with limited project information and develop practical design assumptions.
  • Strong communication and client interaction skills.
