Kwaan Bear IT Solutions (KBITS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer III to support critical cyber defensive systems at Fort Gordon, GA. This senior-level role requires deep expertise in Linux systems administration, infrastructure automation, and cybersecurity operations in mission-critical environments.
As a Systems Engineer III, you will lead the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of secure operating systems and cyber defense technologies while automating workflows to support high-performance, secure environments.Responsibilities
- Collaborating and leading with other engineers to plan, design, and develop the SecDevOps environment that includes cohesive CI/CD pipelines.
- Supporting the entire Software Development cycle, emphasizing build and release management via automation.
- Analyzing continuously the SecDevOps environment for technical and process improvements (e.g., integration of security measures, faster security and software updates, improved automation, reduced glitches and software failures, etc.).
- Maintaining the deployed system, deploying updates and fixes, investigating and resolving technical and network issues, and providing technical support to end-users as needed.
- 10+ years’ experience in system engineering and IT-related fields.
- Direct experience working with Cloud Virtualization and on-prem products (VMware, Oracle, RedHat, Windows, AWS).
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Administration.
- Experience with SIEM (Elastic, Splunk, or Security Onion) IT Infrastructure monitoring and Event Log Management.
- Strong experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and artifact repositories (e.g., Nexus, Artifactory).
- Experienced in automating operations and maintenance using Ansible, REST APIs, and scripting (Python, Bash).
- Knowledge of Zero Trust applications and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Linux, VMware, and Rancher management and provisioning solutions.
- Knowledge of DISA STIG security compliance and ability to implement FISMA compliance with NIST 800-53 security controls.
- Experience with scanning, remediating, mitigating, and reporting cybersecurity vulnerabilities using tools such as DISA ACAS or Tenable NESSUS.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
- An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
