Core Database AdministratorDTSI is seeking a Core Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure the performance, availability, and security of several mission critical databases within an enterprise environment. This role involves database design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to support business operations effectively while implementing a SaaS solution for the United States Air Force (USAF) at Randolph Air Force Base (RAFB).Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
  • Create and manage users, roles, permissions, and access controls within databases.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including tuning queries, indexing, and optimizing storage.
  • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with software developers and architects to design efficient and scalable database schemas.
  • Develop and implement database schema changes as required by application updates or business needs.
  • Optimize database design for performance, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to protect sensitive data stored in databases.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
  • Monitor database activity for security breaches and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Investigate and resolve database-related issues reported by users or detected through monitoring tools.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to application developers and system administrators on database-related matters.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical database issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing sessions to educate team members on database best practices and technologies.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on core databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database query optimization.
  • Familiarity with database security concepts and best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience will be considered in leu of degree.
Security Requirements
  • DoD8570 IAT Level II - Security+ ce
  • Secret Clearance or Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
