- Assist in the management of assigned claims by gathering relevant information, reviewing documentation, and collaborating with local claims teams
- Conduct thorough legal research on insurance laws, regulations, and case precedents. Provide summaries and analysis to support legal decision-making
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including correspondence, settlement agreements, and pleadings related to claims and litigation
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Monitor deadlines and coordinate with legal professionals to meet case requirements
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Ensure compliance with legal requirements in all related matters
- Assist in the review and analysis of insurance policies to ensure legal compliance and accurate interpretation
- Create templates for department use and draft coverage letters
- Review and assist with responding to subpoenas and other third-party requests for documents
- Maintain direct liability files in collaboration with the department's legal counsel
- Draft reinsurance/internal reports and ensure compliance with company reporting procedures
- Administer litigation holds, electronic discovery processes, and all bankruptcy and other court-issued notices
- Maintain attorney licensure information
- Assist with other legal and administrative tasks as needed, such as document review and maintaining department files
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred
- Paralegal certification is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of litigation paralegal experience is required
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
- Familiarity with Westlaw or other online legal research databases
- Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Word and Excel, and Adobe PDF
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and problem solve
