- Supervise and support finance staff, including the staff accountant and financial analyst, ensuring compliance with procedures, proper recordkeeping, and strong internal controls.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, the general ledger, and monthly close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal leadership, board reporting, and fiscally sponsored initiatives.
- Maintain compliance and recordkeeping for banking activity and other financial services.
- Record and reconcile investment portfolio activity based on reports from custodians and investment advisors
- Coordinate annual audits and support tax filings, including Forms 990, 990-PF, 990-T, and applicable state filings, in collaboration with external auditors and tax firms; perform first-level review of draft filings before CFO review.
- Ensure timely submission of all tax-related forms, including W-2s, 940, 941, 1099, and 5500.
- Manage and maintain financial systems, including QuickBooks Online and its integration with platforms such as Salesforce.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of accounting systems, financial processes, and administrative operations in support of PATH’s mission.
- Partner with the CFO on budget development, forecasting, and long-term financial planning; compile data, monitor performance, and support cash flow planning.
- Nonprofit Accounting Expertise: 7+ years of accounting experience. Strong understanding of nonprofit financial operations and compliance, gained through direct nonprofit/foundation roles or public accounting experience with nonprofit clients. CPA strongly preferred.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Proven experience supervising or mentoring a small accounting team, with a collaborative approach to working across departments and building organization-wide financial understanding.
- Support for Budgeting and Financial Planning: Experience compiling data, preparing reports, and contributing to financial analysis in support of budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes led by senior leadership.
- Systems Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and a CRM platform such as Salesforce.
- Sound Judgment and Integrity: Trusted to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and professionalism.
