The City of O'Fallon is seeking a passionate and organized Recreation Specialist – Aquatics & Special Events to lead engaging programs and events that promote wellness, fun, and connection.What You'll DoAs a key member of our Parks & Recreation team, you'll oversee aquatic programming and special events while supporting the daily operations of our premier facilities.Aquatics LeadershipManage the swim lesson program and Torpedoes Swim Team at the Renaud Center and Alligators CreekAssist with training and certification of 100+ lifeguards and swim instructorsSupport pool maintenance and operations alongside the Aquatics Operations SpecialistRespond to after-hours emergencies related to aquatics facilitiesSpecial Events CoordinationPlan and implement aquatics-related special events and a variety of community-wide eventsCollaborate with internal departments and external partners to deliver exceptional experiencesServe as Manager on Duty at recreation facilities, ensuring smooth operations and guest satisfactionProgram ManagementHire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time staffManage program budgets, forecast revenue, and ensure cost recoveryMaintain accurate participant records and prepare reportsDevelop promotional materials, manuals, and event rulesAct as liaison to schools, community organizations, and vendorsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of recreation program development and implementationKnowledge of supervisory principles and practicesKnowledge of recreation facility and equipment managementKnowledge of city policies and procedures, including purchasing and budgetingSkill in supervising personnel and motivating teamsSkill in using office equipment (computer, calculator, copier, fax)Strong interpersonal and communication skillsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required1–3 years of relevant experience or completion of internship/apprenticeshipValid Missouri driver's license or ability to obtain oneCPR certification or ability to obtainPreferred: Certified Parks and Recreation Professional, Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard InstructorWhy Work for the City of O'Fallon?We value our employees and their wellbeing.
