- Assists with parts and system fabrication and assembly in the floor shop.
- Prepares clear, complete and accurate shop assembly drawings (weldments and mechanical assembly drawings) and detail parts drawings from 3D models or sketches.
- Ability to create electrical schematics and diagrams and shop assembly written or verbal instructions.
- Creates engineering drawings using computer-aided design (Pro-E) graphics workstation.
- Assists designers and engineers in taking field measurements and making sketches to assist in answering design, fabrication, or installation questions.
- May be called upon to increase design throughput by providing design related activities under direct supervision of a designer or engineer.
- Converts multi-CAD system subassemblies (Pro-E, AutoCAD) into integrated mechanical assemblies, under the direct supervision of designers.
- Checks detail drawings to assure compliance with engineering codes and drafting standards.
- Ensures compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
- Maintains a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics.
- Highly competent with PC software such as MS Office.
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical drafting standards and best practices.
- Highly developed skills with Pro-E 3D modeling software.
- Intermediate skills with 2-D AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes such as: sheet metal design tolerances, shop fabrication tolerances, and CAD welding notes.
- Ability to read calipers, tape measure, and other measurement tools as required to complete tasks.
- A degree in Computer Aided Design or equivalent, or, relevant combination of education and experience.
