- Implement lesson plans that the absent teacher provides or create appropriate instructional plans when necessary.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage students in learning activities.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to promote student engagement and discipline.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, and recess as assigned.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
- Provide feedback to the regular classroom teacher regarding student performance and behavior.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information per school policies and legal requirements.
This description outlines the position's primary duties; however, substitute teachers may be required to perform other job-related tasks as directed by their supervisor or the School Principal to ensure smooth school operations.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent for short-term assignments required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience: Prior teaching or substitute experience preferred.
- Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.
- Ongoing participation in professional development activities as required by ADE.
- Strong knowledge in core academic subjects; proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
