Description:This is a highly responsible support position with the primary responsibility of supporting SOS staff and local election authorities using the statewide voter registration system. This employee is expected to show initiative in working independently, conducting necessary analysis of monitoring the portal and the voter registration database aspects, and communicating user needs to the Administrator of the statewide voter registration database and the Director of Elections. The ability to handle multiple deadlines is required. Daily responsibilities and assignments will be delegated by the Administrator and Director of Elections.Job Functions and/or General Responsibilities:
  • Assist in efforts of the statewide voter database Helpdesk.
  • Conduct training and create instructional materials for local election authorities.
  • Answer telephone and written inquiries from local election authorities, candidates, and the general public.
  • Be familiar with Missouri statutes dealing with election issues, especially Chapter 115 RSMo, and with federal election laws.
  • Work extensively with local election authorities, assisting them in election-related matters.
  • Analyze content of the statewide database to ensure accuracy and completeness of voter information and validation of functionality.
  • Assess monitoring requirements to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Provide statistical reports on information from the statewide voter registration database.
  • Assist in legislation, fiscal notes, and publications.
  • Assist with election night reporting, petition filings, candidate filing, and candidate certification.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA).
  • Research statistical data and information to be utilized in preparing written materials.
  • Proof posters and materials used by local election authorities, and coordinate printing schedules and delivery of such materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with Missouri's election law preferred.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of desktop software and/or Internet formatting languages.
  • Ability to develop and conduct user acceptance tests for applications.
  • Ability to write effectively and produce a variety of informational materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with local election authorities and the general public.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience in elections, political science, history, government, or closely related area.
