Join our team as a Tax Mgr.Job SummaryWe are hiring a strategic and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead global income tax operations across the organization. This role is responsible for managing tax compliance, provision reporting, and audit readiness for Harley-Davidson and its subsidiaries. The Tax Manager will drive process improvements through automation, ensure timely and accurate filings, and maintain strong internal controls including SOX compliance. Acting as the primary liaison for financial auditors and tax authorities, this role also supports cross-functional teams by providing guidance on tax-related matters and business changes. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with deep technical expertise, capable of minimizing tax risks and liabilities while identifying opportunities for tax savings and operational efficiency.Job ResponsibilitiesTax Accounting & Provision
- Lead preparation and review of global income tax provisions (federal, state, international) ensuring accuracy, completeness, and efficiency.
- Oversee consolidation and reporting of tax expense, deferred taxes, reserves, and valuation allowances across HDFS, HDMC, and Livewire.
- Manage provision-to-return adjustments, audit-related journal entries, and process improvements.
- Ensure tax legislation and transactions are accurately reflected in reporting.
- Establish and maintain internal tax policies, documentation, and SOX controls to mitigate financial misstatement risks.
- Coordinate global income tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings and payments.
- Monitor tax law and business changes impacting filing requirements and risk.
- Lead and mentor tax team members; maintain tax software and drive process improvements.
- Educate cross-functional teams on tax matters and support compliance solutions.
- Manage tax notices and correspondence with authorities, focusing on savings and risk reduction.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure systems support tax data and reporting needs.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation across all tax functions.
- Manage income tax audits, coordinating data collection and communication with authorities and consultants.
- Support non-income and foreign tax audits, minimizing exposure and risk.
- Support business units with tax analysis and planning related to operational and legislative changes.
- Manage outsourced tax projects from scoping to delivery, ensuring efficiency and audit readiness.
- Develop strategies to reduce tax liabilities, improve ETR, and maximize EPS.
- Align tax planning with operational metrics to track and enhance savings.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- A major in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Typically requires 7 years of income tax experience with a Public Accounting firm and/or global company that includes exposure to a variety of tax issues and related compliance and audit experience.
- Strong leadership, mentoring and process management skills and personal initiative.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to explain tax concepts to non-tax personnel and tailor communication to recipients with different levels of knowledge.
- Experience and comfort working in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a larger team.
- Developed focus on time management and meeting deadlines with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work on several ongoing projects at once.
- Desire and willingness to learn new areas of tax, keep abreast of changes in tax law and genuine interest in understanding the business operations and transaction flows.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to apply general financial and tax concepts to new factual situations or changes in the business and the ability to identify potential issues or concerns and propose recommended actions or solutions.
- Experience with Tax Compliance Software (i.e. OneSource, ProSystems, Corptax or other major provider), Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with extracting information from financial systems (i.e. Hyperion, JD Edwards, SAP and/or BPC or other major provider).
- CPA designation or an advanced degree in Tax or Law is preferred.
- Experience with Corptax and familiarity with extracting information from SAP and BPC.
