Superior Energy's field proven best-in-class sand control tools services minimize risk, reduce completion costs and deliver optimized completions.Superior Completion Services is currently seeking Associate Engineers (AEs) to join our team in Lafayette, LA.SummaryThis is a structured training program which entails continuous on the job training (OJT) throughout all aspects of Superior Completion Services’ business and technology (including: Design Engineering, Application Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly and Field Support activities) through hands on participation in various technical and non-technical activities with the goal of building a general understanding of processes, procedures, equipment, market, and engineering principles. This ~12 month training program prepares the AE to progress into other technical roles within Superior Completion Services including:
  • Field Engineer supporting Shop and Field Operations in the Gulf of Mexico or other regions around the globe.
  • Tool Specialist providing field support to our clients primarily in offshore environments.
  • Design Engineer supporting research and new product development for downhole completion tools.
  • Applications Engineer providing technical and sales support to our clients.
  • Other technical roles withing Superior Completion Services’ global engineering, manufacturing, and sales footprint.
As an AE, you will work out of Superior’s Lafayette, LA operational district receiving hands on training on shop and field operations with up to 50% of your time spent at Superior’s Houston, TX facility training on manufacturing, design and applications engineering. This training may include time spent offshore at any of our client’s well locations in the Gulf of Mexico or other regions globally.The AE is responsible for providing support that entails performing detailed calculations, detailed writing of procedures, equipment assembly, testing, inspection, reporting and detailed documentation. The AE will have a mentor throughout the various phases of the program and will use case studies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and technical manuals as a guide. The AE is required to directly participate and assist specialists and engineering in the field or shop to accomplish ongoing job operations and help direct or coordinate onsite support staff as necessaryEssential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop a working knowledge of Superior Completion Services’ business and technology to prepare for other technical roles within the organization.
  • Job shadow and actively participate in each job function and/or role that the AE is assigned to within the Technology, Design engineering, Manufacturing, and Tool Operations departments.
  • Participate and investigate job incidents.
  • Report on engineering research projects.
  • Develop or assists in documenting and writing of reports on projects or studies.
  • Gather, organize, perform calculations, and evaluate data for pertinent projects and reporting of the same with conclusions as necessary.
  • Support assembly shop and field operations in preparing and running equipment.
  • Participates in the discussion of planning a critical performance test for a part of equipment that needs to be qualified to specifications, may write the procedure to perform the test.
  • Participate in technical society (SPE, API, etc.) functions, study groups, etc.
Minimum Requirements
  • Strong understanding of basic engineering principles
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to plan and track project timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills: must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and clients
  • Ability to work in common computer programs
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to identify problems and evaluate solutions
  • Ability to travel to other locations and offshore for training purposes
  • Relevant oil and gas industry experience is a plus
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering Technology is required.
