Overview: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our finance team in various accounting functions. The Accounting Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the accounting department. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in accounting and a desire to gain practical experience in a professional environment.Responsibilities: * Accounts Payable: Assist in processing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and preparing payments for approval. Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Accounts Receivable: Support the invoicing process by generating and sending customer invoices accurately and promptly. Monitor accounts receivable aging, follow up on overdue payments, and maintain accurate records of customer transactions.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Record financial transactions in the general ledger system, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Expense Reimbursements: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Verify supporting documentation, reconcile corporate credit card statements, and process expense reimbursements in a timely manner.
  • Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Compile financial data, perform data analysis, and prepare supporting schedules for management reporting.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Assist in performing bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions. Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly, and maintain organized records of bank transactions.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the finance department, including filing documents, answering phone calls, responding to emails, and scheduling appointments. Assist with special projects and other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or coursework in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance-related role is desirable but not required; recent graduates or individuals with relevant coursework are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is a plus.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately process and record financial data.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as needed.
