When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.Job Type: RegularScheduled Hours: 40Work Shift: Rotating (United States of America)NURSE EDUCATORUnder the direction of the Director of Nursing, and in conjunction with departmental resources and unit managers, the Nurse Educator ensures that staff have the knowledge and skills needed to provide competent, compassionate and professional nursing care for patients and their families across the continuum of care throughout the Med/Surg units. The Nurse Educator collaborates the Nursing Leadership and other Educators to assess, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate educational programs, in-services and orientation for department. The Nurse Educator supports the Division of Nursing and assigned units by enhancing nursing knowledge and improving patient outcomes.Assumes the continuous responsibility for clinical leadership regarding staff education, assessment of competency, participation in the clinical management of patients to demonstrate practice, assistance with new technology, developing procedures and policy, and assuming a partnering role with nursing leadership in performance improvement initiatives. The Nurse Educator is responsible for participating in the Division's quality program, determining the effectiveness of patient care strategies, and connecting those results back to the staff by initiating education and necessary changes in practice to achieve and maintain excellent patient care and clinical outcomes.Job Description:Primary Responsibilities1. Demonstrates clinical expertise across specialty area2. Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills including advanced leadership skills during emergencies or crises.3. Serves as an educator of clinical practice, and supporter of staff professional development and personal growth.4. Participates in delegations of patient care assignments reflecting the learning needs of the staff and staff competency to meet patient needs.5. Participates and makes recommendations in selecting new hires and transfers based on qualifications and abilities necessary to meet patient needs.6. Collects and assesses monthly quality data to evaluate, discuss and recommend Performance Improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Nursing Leadership.7. Assists with annual competency assessments for the Division of Nursing.8. Assists with Nursing Orientation as assigned9. Assists with New Grad Residency program and supports the Residents outside of the Residency program sessions.10. Serves as a resource to all staff and management in planning and providing educational programs.11. Collaborates with Directors, Managers and other unit/institution leadership to provide education and training for changes in policies and/or introduction of new procedures or processes12. Assists in the growth of staff in developing them as preceptors and mentors.13. Develops, implements and evaluate orientation, in-services, and continuing education programs.14. Develops and implements preceptor orientation programs for new hires15. Assists with the development, recommendation, and implementation of policies, procedures, and new initiatives/roll-outs.16. Annually reviews competencies in collaboration with the department and division leadership.17. Participates in unit based and hospital-level quality programs supporting appropriate changes in practice and strategic innovation to achieve and sustain excellence in patient care and clinical outcomes18. Continuously reviews various quality and care related metrics and engages staff by translating outcomes into practice via educational forums19. Works collaboratively with leadership and care team members to maintain unit efficiency and patient care excellence.20. Work practice reflects the philosophy, purpose, and policies of the BILH system and those of Mount Auburn Hospital21. Collaborates with nursing leadership to develop and implement a learning needs assessment22. Collaborates with nursing leadership to prepare for regulatory surveys23. Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications1. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing; Master's preferred2. A valid RN license in the state of MA3. 3+ years of recent nursing experience4. Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills5. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the education needs of the division of nursing6. Excellent computer skills (Email, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, EPIC knowledge, etc.)7. Excellent communication skills8. Certification in Specialty Area or other related experience preferred9. BLS; ACLS preferred10.
