
Controls Engineer III

- Manage instrumentation & controls engineering services that meet applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget
- Manage instrumentation & controls engineering project requirements
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and comply with required checking procedures
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes
- Provide advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation
- Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress; and
- Ensure the required services meet Client, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget
- Act as the instrumentation & controls engineering Lead on specific projects
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Client and its Customer's requirements
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in instrumentation & controls engineering
- If required, assist and support junior personnel within the instrumentation & controls engineering team
- Communicate effectively with the instrumentation & controls engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required
- A minimum of 5 years' experience with implementation of pipeline distribution and related systems, tank farms, pump stations, meter skids, is required
- Extensive knowledge in industry standards for documentation, basic regulatory and discreet control, loop tuning, safety systems, and PLC configuration is required
- Knowledge reading and developing of process, electrical and Instrumentation drawings Cause and Effect Diagrams, specification and control narratives is required
- Configuration experience in various HMI and PLC platforms along with function block and ladder logic programming is required
- Working experience with Allen Bradley Control & Compact Logix PLCs (RLL,ST,FB,SFC) is required
- Working experience with Aveva/Wonderware System Platform/Archestra is required. Working experience with Aveva/Wonderware Intouch is required
- Working experience with Red Lion protocol converters and HMIs is a plus
- Working experience with Prosoft protocol converters is a plus
- Working experience with Allen Bradley Panelview / RSView ME is a plus
- Working experience with legacy Modicon PLCs is a plus
- Working experience with Allen Bradley SLC PLCs is a plus
- Working knowledge of Triconex Safety Systems configuration experience is a plus
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks as well as being able to manage large amounts of work through others (like contractor support) is required
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs and climb a ladder
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization (operations and contractors), both verbally and in writing
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and be on call is required
