- Performs a variety of pre-exam activities such as receiving patient, determining chief complaint, and reviewing medical history.
- Assists in patient check in by collecting important patient information such as health, weight, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Oversees patient checkout process and implements medical orders.
- Maintains EHR through the regular collection and entry of relevant data.
- Analyzes collected data for abnormalities to report to Health Care Provider.
- Assists in procedure preparation by sanitizing exam rooms, replacing paper sheets, replacing soiled instruments, and organizing tools and equipment.
- Facilitate basic office procedures; obtaining consents, participating in pre-procedure time outs, and assisting the provider in procedures.
- Will provide supervised wound care and dressing changes.
- Tracks inventory stock and laboratory supplies and replaces items as necessary.
- Carries out basic lab draws and medical tests and packages for processing by laboratory.
- Administers intramuscular injections, immunizations, and over-the-counter medications under direction of a physician.
- Coordinates transportation of patients to healthcare facilities and ensures that facility receives relevant patient information.
- Follows directions during urgent care situations to assist in any way possible.
- Performs other job-related activities as requested.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 year experience of patient care preferred.
- Current and valid Medical Assistant certificate from an approved and accredited program.
- Current and continuing BLS training and certifications within 90 days in position.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community or other Native American cultures and community health services.
