- Provides leadership support for outpatient physical medicine staff, reporting any pertinent information to the Director.
- Incorporates critical thinking skills and establishes priorities in decision-making. Acts as a positive role model in facilitating change, promoting excellence in patient care, safety and ethical conduct.
- Assists the Director with completion of employee performance reviews.
- Assists with conflict resolution in absence of director, and as needed. Responds to customer complaints as needed, reporting any pertinent information to the Director.
- In collaboration with the Director, monitors and adjusts staffing patterns as needed. Assists the Director with monitoring staff productivity and schedule utilization.
- Assists the Director with interviewing prospective candidates for employment.
- Assists with monitoring of staff adherence to CMS, JCHO, and DPH guidelines for environment of care. Ensures staff are completing temperature checks on equipment per regulations.
- Assists the Director with other duties as required, to include but not limited to: Performance Improvement activities; creating and revising departmental-related policies; budgetary preparation; TJC/other regulatory inspections; delegation of assignments fairly taking into account each individual's capabilities
- BS, MS or DPT degree from an accredited program in Physical Therapy required.
- Licensure by the state of Connecticut required.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
- Minimum of 5 years clinical experience preferred.
- Possesses strong patient assessment skills with the ability to give appropriate directions in critical patient care situations and make appropriate decisions.
- Keeps up-to-date on current trends and developments in the field of physical medicine and health services.
- Demonstrate skills in order to perform tests and measure patients' strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, along with respiratory and circulatory efficiency.
- Maintains discretion in handling the confidential nature of the information available.
- Identifies and acts on priorities for smooth department operation.
