Enterprise Data ArchitectKey Role:Design enterprise architecture (EA) to enable strategic or tactical transformations through informed decision-making at any level of an enterprise to support governance, future growth, adaptability, optimization, innovation, and modernization initiatives such as cloud and digital solutions. Define and champion the enterprise data architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligning with long-term business goals and evaluating emerging technologies. Lead a database management and enterprise architecture team in alignment with the long-term vision and strategy. Maintain accountability for establishing the data architecture vision and championing efforts to reach that vision. Serve as the in-house database expert and authority by defining, implementing, and enforcing all data integration standards and documentation. Review and suggest improvements to data architecture processes, policies, and vision. Explore new and emerging technologies, leading the investigation and adaptation of beneficial data architecture technologies and tools. Lead strategy, development, and implementation of an Enterprise Data Model and strategy development for usage of Operational Data Stores. Contribute to developing transparent and well-understood enterprise data governance processes, rules, and technologies to support them. Establish and enforce comprehensive data governance processes, modeling standards, and cleansing procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and security. Develop guidelines and best practices to ensure data standardization and consistency, lead the design of exception handling, data cleansing or standardization procedures, and business transformation rules and logic, and lead the development of processes to avoid redundancy in data elements, where applicable. Conduct a continuous audit of the data management system performance, refining whenever required, keep data easily accessible and accurate, and review, refine, and implement data standards. Lead the full lifecycle of data architecture projects, from platform selection and technical design through implementation, testing, and performance auditing. Define and manage the flow of data and dissemination of information within the organization, and integrate technical functionality, ensuring data accessibility, accuracy, and security. Spearhead a complex, phased migration from a legacy Sybase system to a modern AWS microservices architecture such as Postgres Aurora, DMS, and Lambda, engineering innovative solutions to maintain data synchronization during the transition. Guide and perform the migration from a system using Sybase and stored procedures to a modern microservices architecture based on AWS technologies such as Postgres Aurora, DMS, and Lambda. Plan and execute phased migrations via data domains, ensuring old and new databases are kept in sync using innovative approaches. Act as the primary liaison between business units, product managers, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions and build consensus on architectural designs. Collaborate with business units, data owners, and DBA teams to successfully implement database solutions to address business requirements. Identify and promote best practices for data modeling within information areas, providing oversight for all activities related to data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation using industry-standard data modeling methods and processes. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions. Operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision, and mentor or supervise employees in both company and technical competencies.Basic Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, database design, and administration
  • 5+ years of experience in an Agile or DevOps enterprise environment using Atlassian tools such as Jira or Confluence
  • Experience with data modeling tools such as ERStudio, ERWIN, and PowerDesigner AWS technologies such as Aurora, RDS, DMS, and Lambda, and database project management
  • Experience with cloud services and solutions, database administration and development, analytical sciences, information technology governance, information security, information technology resource management, business case development, business process design, strategic planning, and business functions
  • Experience with innovative approaches to data synchronization during phased migrations
  • Knowledge of Sybase or PostgreSQL platforms, relational DBMS and SQL, and microservices architecture and its implementation
  • Ability to present solutions precisely to various levels of management, work across different groups, perform limited project management to implement the proposed solutions, and communicate the overall customer data architecture to both technical and business constituencies
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a CS field
  • Database and Project Management Certifications

  • Master’s degree in CS or a related field

The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
