Cognition, Neuroimaging And Omics In Older Adults And Alzheimer’s Disease

Fellows will have the opportunity to use neuroimaging, cognitive, clinical, proteomic, metabolomic, and genetic data from multiple large cohort studies, including the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA), Women’s Health Initiative Memory Study (WHIMS), and the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study, to generate impactful research relevant to neurodegenerative disease and brain aging. Fellows will also have the opportunity to collaborate with NIH and non-NIH investigators and participate in ongoing research initiatives within the Laboratory of Behavioral Neuroscience. Fellows will be able to participate in aspects of neuroimaging and cognitive data collection and are expected to conduct analyses and disseminate research findings via peer-reviewed manuscripts and scientific presentation(s) at national and international conferences.
Training: Research training includes active participation in weekly multidisciplinary lab meetings, weekly Neuroimaging Emerging Research Discussion (NERDs) meetings, clinical and neuropathological case conferences, Clinical Neuroscience Grand Rounds, and professional development and research methods courses offered through the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE). Fellows are also encouraged to take advantage of the neurology/neuroscience seminars and research methods courses offered at the nearby Johns Hopkins University Schools of Medicine and Public Health. Clinical neuropsychology fellows will have the opportunity to receive postdoctoral clinical training (25% time) at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree, and interest and experience with cognitive, neuroimaging, epidemiology, or omics (genetics/proteomics) research. Candidates must be on track to complete doctoral degree requirements before the start of the fellowship. Experience with R, SAS, STATA, or other statistical computing software is a plus.
