
Build and Release Engineer (DevOps Engineer)

- Own and improve the end-to-end build, integration, and release processes across multiple programs.
- Design, configure, and maintain source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), and automated build systems.
- Build and maintain containerized environments on Linux VMs using Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes (k3s or similar).
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux (command-line proficiency required) and Windows build/release environments.
- Stand up and maintain virtualized infrastructure in VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate builds, resolve environment issues, and ensure smooth releases in an Agile framework.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including environment setup guides and deployment procedures for internal teams and customers.
- Support environment automation using tools like Ansible, Vagrant, or similar.
- Manage release packaging, license tracking, and configuration baselines for multiple concurrent projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
- 2+ years of experience in software configuration management, build/release engineering, or DevSecOps, with hands-on expertise using Continuous Integration tools.
- Experience designing and deploying containerized solutions in Kubernetes.
- Strong Linux administration and command-line scripting skills.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi) and automation tools (Ansible, Vagrant, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience building Kubernetes clusters from scratch in constrained or edge environments.
- Familiarity with container registries, image hardening, and secure deployment practices.
- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps best practices at both the team and program level.
- Prior experience mentoring developers or operations staff on CI/CD, automation, or containerization.
