- Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and procedures according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
- Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
- Maintains, sterilizes and cleans equipment and supplies.
- Prepares and disposes of media.
- May care for small research animals.
- Orders supplies and maintains designated inventory levels.
- Reviews literature for related research developments and techniques and compiles findings.
- Maintains records, files and logs of work performed; compiles data and records results of studies.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
- Interest and/or educational background in genetics.
- Experience with bioinformatic tools and/or membrane protein biochemistry assays.
- Eager to broaden scientific knowledge and develop new technical skills.
- Thorough and timely note-taking abilities.
- Detail-oriented, inquisitive, and communicative disposition.
- Perform tasks with utmost integrity.
