Facilities Maintenance Technicians work to maintain and repair all systems and equipment at the Long Center’s beautiful performing arts campus in the heart of Austin. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical or electrical background and a familiarity with building automation systems (BAS). Facilities Maintenance Technicians must work and communicate effectively in a team environment, demonstrating a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, and should have the flexibility to work a variable schedule as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Inspect facility, grounds, equipment, and furniture to identify maintenance needs.
  • Evaluate, perform, and complete maintenance and repair requests to ensure building and space is maintained in good repair and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Work with staff and vendors to evaluate and schedule third party maintenance to maximize efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain records of maintenance work and facility project status as well as expendables used.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of commercial plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC equipment, building automation systems, lighting, appliances, and grounds maintenance.
  • Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair energy management, electrical, HVAC, auxiliary, and power systems and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor and navigate Building Automated HVAC Systems to verify proper building temperatures.
  • Daily utilization of a maintenance, repair ticket, and time tracking software to follow workflow and contribute to the team’s output.
  • Support and work within the company’s health and safety programs and guidelines at all times.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
  • High school diploma and at least 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or equivalent education and training.
  • Accredited trade or technical school certificate in HVAC and/or Active Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Registered Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician license preferred (not required).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to learn ticket tracking software and calendaring/scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and get along well with others in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to work evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and overtime when needed in support of events and/or within an on-call rotation as required.
